MANNING, RAMSEY posted by Betty Ramsey on Saturday, February 24, 2001

I am searching for anything on Thomas RAMSEY of Dobbs Co. - or possibly other Ramseys- or on Moses MANNING of that county. They were both on the 1790 census and 1769 tax list. Later there were men by the same names in New Hanover County. Thomas of NH Co.was my husband's ancestor and I believe Moses was part of the extended family somehow. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks again,

Has anyone in Dobbs County come across listings of Bible records published in FAMILY PUZZLERS, the weekly genealogy magazine edited by Mary Bondurant Warren from 1964 until 1998? I thought that HERITAGE PAPERS went out of business when Mrs. Warren stopped publishing Puzzlers the end of 1998. Not so!! I recently found the new websites for HERITAGE PAPERS as well as for FAMILY PUZZLERS, TNG, the monthly magazine edited by Mrs. Warren's daughter Amy Warren Sanders! Most of the items that Heritage Papers used to advertise in their annual catalog are still available, including back issues of the quarterly magazines GEORGIA GENEALOGIST and CAROLINA GENEALOGIST, lots of historic maps, as well as source materials for Virginia, North and South Carolina, and Georgia. Some bound volumes of Family Puzzlers are still available. For Heritage Papers, go to http://www.galaxymall.com/books/heritagepapers For Family Puzzlers, The Next Generation, go to http://www.galaxymall.com/books/familypuzzlers I just thought you'd like to know! GRANTHAM, MIXON, STRICKLAND posted by Margaret O'Neal on Sunday, May 27, 2001

Nathan GRANTHAM had a son named Ashley Marcellus btn 1809-1813. Ashley married a Matilda Angelyne MIXON. Nathan migrated from NC, to SC, to GA, and ended up in Henry Co., AL. Most records indicate Nathan married a Martha STRICKLAND or Martha UNKNOWN. Nathan b1751, also had a son named Nathan. The son is the one I think really married Martha STRICKLAND. My problem is it appears Ashley's mother, whoever she was, was over 50 years old when he was born as most records indicate she was born in 1752. Could Nathan Sr., have had a second wife and family? 1308 Ortega St., Winter Springs, FL 32708
