Father's name was Alexander born in England, mother's maiden name was Kilpatrick first name unknown. Nathan was a Revolutionary War Veteran, enlisting at age 16, and served as a private in the 10th Regiment N.C. Continental Line, under Captain Sharpe. About 1800 the family moved into Muhlenberg County Kentucky, Nathan died there around 1839?

He enlisted in the army during the Revolutionary War, and married Ruth shortly after the end of the war. The family later settled in Screven County, Georgia. Children included Homer, John, Dicey, Martha, and several others.
